Michael (Mikey) Tapia II, 32, passed away on October 28, 2022. He was a lifelong Colorado resident and spent the majority of his life in Colorado Springs. Michael was born on July 31, 1990 to Michael D. Tapia and Vickie Tapia (Jimenez).
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Barros and their children, Angel and Mikey (Michael Jr.) Tapia; father, Michael D. Tapia; siblings, Monique (John) Santos, Angela (Tim) Barros, Mirissa (Devan) Collazo, and Crystal Tapia; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Tapia.
Mikey loved spending time with family and friends. He was a jokester, always giving those he loved a hard time and making everyone around him smile. He loved his cars; whether it was working on them, talking about them, going to car shows, or just cruisin’. Mikey was also known for his work ethic, he worked hard every day to support his family and encouraged others to do the same. He followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, father, many uncles, and cousins in the construction field as a concrete finisher. Even when he wasn’t working his daily job, Mikey was always working on something. He was always available to help anyone who needed it, no matter what it was, he would figure out how to get the job done. Most of all, Mikey had a heart of gold; he was generous, loving, kind, and he loved his family more than anything.
Please join us for a memorial service at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2:00pm. A reception will follow at 3:30pm at Meadows Park Community Center, 1943 S. El Paso Ave.

9 Nov 2022My heart breaks for the family and for everyone who knew and loved Michael. I have nothing but fond memories through the years of he as a child stopping by the community center- always upbeat, always respectful and willing to assist where needed. He undoubtedly made his family proud, as he has Meadows Park Community Center and the Stratton Meadows neighborhood. His spirit will live on and impact felt in the many people like me who he has positively impacted throughout his life.
