Myrta McConkey, age 69, went to the Lord on June 21st. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 38 years and was formerly a resident of Phoenix, Arizona. She was a food demonstration coordinator.
Myrta was born on June 10, 1946 to José Barreto and Julia (Rodriguez) Barreto in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Myrta was married to Daniel Golombisky for fourty-three years. After Daniel passed away in 2010, Myrta met Keith McConkey and they married February 6th, 2013.
Myrta enjoyed ceramics. She was also fond of sewing, and had an appreciation of cooking. She attended high school in New York City, New York. She and Keith recently moved to Sebastian, Florida.
She is survived by her loving husband, Keith McConkey; her daughter: Lorraine Berns; her son in law: James Berns; her mother: Julia; her siblings: José Barreto and Jeanette Moak; and her grandchildren: Caitlin, Amber, and Heather Berns. Her brother Carlos Barreto, father José Barreto, and her first husband Daniel Golombisky preceded her in death. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 29th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery.
