Nancy Jane Mock, 73, of Colorado Springs, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on May 12, 2015. Nancy was born on August 5, 1941 to the late Dr. Charles and Betty (Bergman) Houghan in Denver, Colorado. She was raised in Fort Morgan, Colorado and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1959. She attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in child development in 1963. Following graduation in Iowa, she moved to Colorado and received her Master’s Degree in special education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1968. Nancy then taught in Boulder, Colorado before moving to the Colorado Springs area where she taught in District 11 and District 2 until retirement in 1999.
In 1963, Nancy married Jon Lineweaver and together had one son, Richard. After Jon and Nancy’s marriage dissolved, she married Floyd Mock in 1972 and another son was born named Douglas. After this marriage was dissolved she returned back to Colorado Springs in 1985.
In her spare time, Nancy was an avid antique dealer and collector and was very passionate about learning the oriental culture and collecting oriental memorabilia. Nancy was a member of the Colorado Springs Pi Beta Phi alumni club and P.E.O. (Chapter CX) in Minnesota. She was also very active with CanCare, (being a cancer survivor herself). Above all, she was a family woman. She enjoyed spending time with her children, sister and her many friends.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Richard “Rick” Lineweaver of Tulsa, OK, and Douglas “Doug” Mock of Colorado Springs, as well as her sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Houghan also of Colorado Springs. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Charles.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on 19, May, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Bijou Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in Fort Morgan, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
