Norma Lee Newkirk
July 8, 1931 – March 1, 2017
Norma Lee Newkirk, 85, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 1, 2017 in Colorado Springs. She was born on July 8, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John and Mabel (White) Biggs, later moving to Torrance, California, where she graduated from Torrance HS in 1949.
In 1960, Norma and family moved to Colorado Springs where she raised her three children and became a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church and an avid Broncos fan.
Norma is survived by her 3 children: Paul (Mae D’Andrea), Kathy (Tim) Hodges, and Marie (Kevin) Moore; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, LaDean Gray; Robert Newkirk; nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as her dear friends, Wayne and Kim Simshauser. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Biggs.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Her family would like to thank all who were involved with her care at Pikes Peak Hospice, Springs Village Care Center, and First Presbyterian Church. Finally, Norma would want you all to know that since she became a Christian at age 10, her testimony was and has always been that, “I am in Christ and Christ is in me.”
