Nova Lee Wedge
January 16, 1929 – February 25, 2015

Nova Lee (Decoux) Wedge passed away on February 25, 2015. She was a resident of Colorado Springs on and off for 38 years. She also lived in Louisiana, Texas, Illinois and New Mexico. She retired from private duty nursing.

One of thirteen children, Nova was born on January 16, 1929 in Red Cross, Louisiana to Alexander Decoux, Sr. and Pearl (Nero) Decoux. She is survived by her children: Arthur J. Cato, Jr., Constance (Walter) Cato Jones, Miles S. Jones and Peter S. Jones; her siblings: Alexander Decoux, Jr. of Texas, Evelyn Henderson, Hilda Gardere and Sally Dauphin all of Louisiana; her grandchildren: Anissa (Jerome) Jones-Thomas, Cassandra A. Jones, Quadell (Shonneil) Kimble, Patrick Allen, Kaila Jones, Mari Jones and Sammy Tolliver; and one great-grandchild, Kywan Bassett. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Maurice Wedge; her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.

Nova was a friendly, loving and helpful person. She acquired friends and new “families” wherever she went. No one was a stranger. Her gumbo was an open invitation to come and enjoy.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance. Private entombment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum.
