On Monday, November 18, 2019, at 74 years old, Olivia Mariam Pastor Carranza Thomas, loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother passed away at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Olivia was born on September 13, 1945 in New York to Nellie Smith and Justo Carranza. Olivia was a retired medication assistant (med C.N.A.), as well as a cook and baker for many restaurants.

Olivia enjoyed cooking for her family especially with help from her granddaughter, Jaila. Olivia lived in Saint Maarten in the early 80’s up until 1997 when she moved to Colorado Springs. She is known for her strength, encouraging words of advice, and fantastic and flavorful cooking. During her downtime she liked watching cooking shows and Judge Judy with her son, Jean.

Olivia is proceeded in death by her father, Justo Carranza; her mother, Nellie Smith; her brothers, Anthony Sabater and Morris; and sisters, Lolita, Sheilah, and Sharon. She is survived by her two children, Jean and Ariane Thomas; her brother, Elisiado Carranza; sisters, Margo Muckle and Darlene Sabater; granddaughter, Jaila; and an abundance of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80917.
