Olivio Lincoln Padilla III, age 39, passed away suddenly on March 21, 2024. His heart, full of love for his family and friends, just couldn’t keep his body going any longer.
Olivio, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Marlene (Chavez) and Olivio Padilla Jr. on January 12, 1985, was destined for a life of curiosity and inquisitiveness. The doctors advised his mother his head was two weeks ahead of his body and that it must have held his huge brain that never stopped thirsting for knowledge till the day he passed.
Shortly after moving from Albuquerque to San Bernardino, California, Marlene met and married Paul Evangelista, who raised Olivio and his sister, Savannah, like his own children. He brought them to church, raised them to be strong, fearless humans, and gave them an abundance of love.
Olivio graduated from San Gorgonio High School, where he dated his wife, Justin (Davis), for a brief time during their freshman year. They never lost touch and eventually reconnected in 2019 during COVID. They had a whirlwind love story resulting in a beautiful marriage in 2021 and a spunky, smart little girl, Inez, born in 2022.
Olivio had a strong will and was stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and sense of humor. He was generous, clever, full to the brim with dad jokes, and always up for the next travel experience with friends and family. He never wanted to stop exploring new things and wanted his daughter to see everything always.
His departure comes as a great shock and deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his entire family and countless others who loved him deeply in his wide community of friends and colleagues. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time and asks that you make contributions to his memorial fund in lieu of flowers and contribute memories of our wonderful Olivio on our tribute website.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 7:00 – 10:00pm at the Woodmoor Barn Community Center in Monument, Colorado. A following service will also be held in San Diego for friends and family in May for those that cannot attend the Colorado service.

30 Mar 2024I’m so very sorry Justin and family. I never had the pleasure of meeting Olivio but I saw his beautiful, genuine smile in pictures you posted over the years. His love for you and Inez just radiated in all of the pictures I saw. Love to you and Inez always.

30 Mar 2024I just want to take this time to express my love for the family of Olivio. Erica and I were blessed to see Olivio whenever we traveled to California and the times we spent here in Albuquerque. He was definitely special in every interaction we had. The laughs and love we shared was strong. When I first heard of this tragedy I was really angry. I couldn’t understand why the Lord could take this young soul so early. It became clear to me that God had another bigger mission for Olivio. God can absorb our feelings including mine and words of blame without personal harm or injury. We cannot hurt God. Like humans who love us unconditionally and yet also strongly disagree deeply on the events we encounter in our daily life his relationship with us is built to last longer than individual events or experiences, even the most important ones. We love you Olivio and until we meet again primo rest easy.

31 Mar 2024Well O (Olivio) you always said just call me O. You were with us for such a short time. I would see you and Justin with little Nezzy and my heart would fill with love at how you took such good care of your family. You were always full of things to do and places to go. I remember you going out in the kitchen after a family dinner. I tried to get you to sit down but you insisted on staying there. You were so kind to Jim and I. You have great parents. So enjoy Marlene going to Bible study with me. I know Justin will miss you so. But God takes care of the widows an orphans. I know you are in a better place but we miss you.
