Oretta Mae McCarthy, age 94, passed away on February 21, 2018. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for 50 years. She was a homemaker for most of her life.
Oretta was born on December 12, 1923 to Roy and Emma (Miller) Hanson in Bancroft, Idaho. In 1942, she married Max Reynolds McCarthy in Idaho.
Oretta was a professor of the art of Ikebana Japanese flower arranging. She also enjoyed gardening and socializing with her many friends. She was a member of the LDS Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia McCarthy; daughter in law, Karen Kuhlman; and grandson, Max Ewan McCarthy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max R. McCarthy; and son, Robert Kent McCarthy.
A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the LDS Church, 1705 North Murray Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.
