Patricia Alice (Medlar) Barbour passed away on July 15, 2024. She was a resident of Calhan, Colorado for 28 years. Patricia grew up in Yonkers, New York. She was a school bus driver for special needs children before retiring.
Patricia was born on April 12, 1945, to Arthur S. Medlar and Anne A. (Donnely) Medlar in Yonkers, New York. On January 29, 1966, she married James Thomas Barbour in Yonkers, New York and moved to Colorado shortly thereafter where they raised their family.
Her career spanned over many years and locations. She drove a school bus for the special needs children whom she enjoyed very much. Patricia drove for Widefield D3, Harrison D2 in Colorado Springs, Falcon D49 and in Connecticut and California. In California she volunteered many times to bus the soldiers returning from Desert Storm from the airport to the base at Camp Pendleton.
Patricia was a dedicated and loving wife and mother; her family was her inspiration and joy! She enjoyed cheering for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and many accomplishments and events over the years. Always there to listen and support, she was the anchor for us all.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Barbour; and her children: Deborah Lindquist (Randy) presently of Jackson, Wyoming, Robert Barbour (Carolyn) of Millerstown, Pennsylvania; and Jim Barbour, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her siblings: Donald Medlar and Bob Medlar; grandchildren: Samantha Heron (Brad) and William Baca (Amanda); great-grandchildren: Alyssa Heron, Reagan Heron, Bradley Wells and baby boy Baca due in December.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Anne Medlar; sisters: Ann Medlar, Cathrine (Kay) Maiaro; and brother, Arthur Medlar.
A funeral service in honor of Patricia will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A committal following the service will be held at 12:00pm, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925. There will be a reception following at the residence of James Barbour in Calhan, Colorado.
