Paul Shappell
Paul Shappell, age 84, a resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at a local Alzheimer’s Center following a long illness. He had retired after serving his country for more than 20 years in the United States Air Force. He had also retired after being in business with his wife, Dorothy, for 29 years where they owned and operated Paul’s Liquors at Pikes Peak and Circle Drive.
Paul Gene Shappell was born on March 9, 1929 in Cressona, Pennsylvania to the late William and Violet (Zechman) Shappell. He attended schools in Schuylkillhaven, Pennsylvania and attended college while in the Air Force. He attained the rank of Captain in his Air Force Career. Paul married Dorothy Irene Zimmerman on August 21, 1954 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Dorothy died in 2007.
Paul was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3260 and the Retired Officers Association.
He is survived by a daughter, two granddaughters, and two brothers.
Private inurnment will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven.
