Penelope “Penny” Schenck
July 14, 1941 – April 26, 2015

Penelope “Penny” Schenck passed away April 26, 2015 at home in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born in Prestatyn, Wales on July 14, 1941 to British parents Rex and Mary Walker. Rex died a POW in 1943 and Mary remarried after the war to an American, Tom Rhone, who helped raise Penny.

In 1959 she married Tom Houser and had 3 children. In 1985 she married Gary Schenck. They lived happily until his death in 2007. She retired from School District 11 as a Paraprofessional with emotional/behavioral students at the elementary level and then in the high school level at Mitchell until 1988. She then volunteered for the Red Cross and Make-A-Wish Foundation until it became too difficult for her due to her Multiple Sclerosis.

Penny loved to make greeting cards and anyone that ever received one from her loved getting them. She also had a love for reading books. She was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church.

She is survived by her 3 children: Tracy Dominguez, Brett Houser and Kelly Davis; and her step-children: Van, Debbie, and Jeff Schenck. She is also survived by her sister, Sherry Evans; her brother, Scott Rhone and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 3rd at 2:00pm at Highland Park Baptist Church, 2315 N. Circle Drive. Donations can be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
