Pythias Tate Thomas Jr., 91, entered into eternal peace on Sunday, August 17, 2014. He passed laying comfortably in his home in Widefield, Colorado, where he was a resident since 1970.

Pythias Jr. was born on July 24, 1923; a son of the late Pythias and Udoxie Thomas. A 26 year veteran of the Army, Pythias Jr. survived through three wars, including WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Being the all-American Army man he was, he loved God, his family, his country and his country’s pastime…baseball. While on leave and in between assignments, Pythias Jr. played alongside of many legends of the game in the Negro Leagues for the Birmingham Black Barons. He was a Sky Sox and Rockies fan and was a season ticket holder for the Sky Sox since opening day.

A loving husband to the predeceased Julia Thomas, he is survived by his sisters: Myra Cobbins, Mary Ann Watts; and his brothers: Alfred and Albert Thomas; his sons: Michael and Frederic Thomas; his grandchildren: Mishael and Stephan Thomas; along with his great-grandchildren: Anthony, Tully, and Adalecia Thomas.

A visitation will be held from 12 -2p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd. Interment will be at Fort Logan with military honors on Monday at 9:30am.

We will all miss you but will live on spreading the love and generosity with which you lived your life.
