R. Stanley Richardson
R. Stanley Richardson, age 87, a Colorado Springs resident for 69 years, passed away peacefully June 24, 2012, in Colorado Springs.
Ralph Stanley Richardson was born February 13, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Harold and Lillian (Burton) Richardson. He married Alice Kapple in January of 1950.
He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. Stan received the Bronze Star for four battles fought in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a pharmacist in Ketchikan, Alaska from 1953 to 1970 where he owned and ran three drug stores. He then came back to Colorado and worked in real estate from 1971 to 2000. His passion was aviation and flying. He owned and flew three planes during his life time, and was a bush pilot in Alaska.
Stanley is survived by his children; Dirk (Barbara) Richardson of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Candice Richardson of Seattle, Washington; sisters Margaret Wolf of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Linda McKinney of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren: Kimberlee Stocks, Chelsey Richardson, Ryan Richardson and great grandchildren: Kelly Lynn Wright, and Rylee Ann Wright all of Ketchikan, Alaska; and nieces. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Richardson, in December of 2002.
A visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in Stan’s honor 10:00 am Friday, June 29, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel with burial following at Evergreen Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1705 North Murray Boulevard, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.
