Randolph Lanosga Jr. “Randy”, age 61, passed away on April 18, 2016. He was a long time resident of Colorado and was a part time resident of Ambergris Caye, Belize. He was a CEO, business owner, professional poker player, husband, father, and grandfather.
Randy was born on September 10, 1954 to Randolph Lanosga and Audrey (Moehsmer) Lanosga on Lajes Air Base, Terceira Island, Azores. On November 28, 1982 he married Bennie Lou Donati in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Randy was always passionate about learning something new. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, hiking, golfing, skiing, reading, studying, playing poker, business building and had an appreciation for sharing fine wine and good Scotch with family and friends.
He was a business leader in multiple industries and his notable accomplishments include development of the Rio Grande Club Golf Course in Southfork, Colorado; Sueno del Mar Resort on Ambergris Caye, Belize; and a long history of mentoring and empowering hundreds of business professionals. He turned a love of playing poker with friends and family on the beach into a professional career and was ranked among the top poker players in the world for 2011 and 2012. He kicked his stage 4 esophageal cancer into remission for three whole months so he could continue enjoying his family and poker time. He won his last tournament, a three month event, less than a month before he passed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bennie Lou Lanosga; his children: Jera White (Nathaniel) and Randolph Lanosga III (Ben Goodwin); his mother: Audrey Lanosga; his siblings: Cathie Cee (Rick), Frank Lanosga (Lisa), John Lanosga, Jim Lanosga, Gerry Lanosga (Michelle), Melodie Lanosga, Maria Stollings, and Ben Donati II; his granddaughter: Evyn Lanosga White; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Lanosga, and his nephew, Ryan Lanosga.
He was a faithful servant of God and a member of Chapel of Our Saviour Episcopal Church, 8 Fourth Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. His memorial service will be held there at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 30, 2016 with a reception immediately following. Interment will be at the Chapel Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Randy’s memory can be made to Bennie Lanosga and will be used to continue his yearly charitable contributions.
