Raymond “Ray” Wilbur Lane, 83, of Colorado Springs, passed away on September 18, 2014. Ray was born on February 4, 1931 in La Junta, Colorado to the late John and Jewel (Van Hook) Lane. After graduating high school and attending college, Ray joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for four years.
Ray was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather as well as a great friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his model airplanes and piloting. He has always been passionate about aviation. Ray spent over 28 years working at Kaman Sciences.
Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel; his children: Mark Lane, Laura Elgner, Cynthia (Donald) Benson and John (Jodie) Lane; brother, Roy Sandusky; grandchildren: Kenneth Benson, Samantha Hagan, Alyssa Wells and Alexander Lane as well as great grandchildren: Reily and Michael Hagan and Andrew Wells. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Lane and granddaughter, Megan.
Per Ray’s request, services will remain private; however donations in his name may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care.
