Redessa W. Cooper, a loving mother, compassionate sister, wonderful aunt and a sweet spirit, passed away on November 17, 2015 at the age of 76 at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on May 27, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Finest and Lillie Ann Taylor.
Redessa accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was educated in the Birmingham school system. She married Willie Lee Cooper, Sr. on December 29, 1958 in Birmingham and to this union two children were born.
Mrs. Cooper worked for several years as a certified nursing assistant. Willie’s Army career took them many places but they eventually made their home in Colorado Springs. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, spending time with family, making people laugh and was a devoted housewife. She was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Pikes Peak Lodge.
Redessa is survived by her children: Willie Lee Cooper, Jr. (Sheeka Mincey) and Angelna Williams; grandchildren: Jemhale (Tacarra) Cooper, Shaniqua Cooper-Wright (Artavis), Raymond Cooper and KeiShawna Cooper; great grandchildren: Jakeen, Ja’Sean and Tia Cooper and Alyia Mathina; sister, Voncyle Mahone (Thomas) and brother, Dr. Finest A. Taylor. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie and her brothers: Thomas James Taylor and Calvin Taylor.
Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
