Rex D. Nash, M.D., age 88, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1954 and formerly of Aurora, Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at a local care center. He was a retired physician, anesthesiologist, and investment banker.
Rex D. Nash was born on June 4, 1925 in Mystic, Iowa to the late Carl N. and Gladys D. (Dykes) Nash. He was a 1942 graduate of Centerville High School in Iowa and the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Utah School of Medicine. He married Marion E. Jewett on December 25, 1946 in Montrose, Colorado. Dr. Nash was an anesthesiologist for all three of Colorado Springs’ hospitals and served on the board of Directors for the Central Mortgage Company.
At one time or another, he was also Chief of Staff at all three hospitals. He was a member of the El Paso Club, the Winter Night Club, the Garden of the Gods Club, the American Medical Association, the Colorado Medical Society, and was in the Who’s Who of Doctors in the United States.
He is survived by his son: Dana (wife, Rogenia) Nash; two grandchildren: Terra (husband, John) Harris; and Mason Nash; two great-grandchildren: Karin Nash and Payten Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, in 1987 and his son, Kirk, in 1986.
Rex enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, skiing, and spending time with his family. He was always found reading medical journals and was very committed to his career as a physician. He will be best remembered as a wonderful doctor who was helpful, caring, and devoted to his patients.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Chapel Mausoleum.
Memorials in his name may be made to a charity of the giver’s choice.
