Richard “Dick” Alderson, age 99, passed away on October 25, 2014. He was a life-long resident of Colorado Springs. Born on May 3, 1915 to Roy Elmo Alderson and Ollie Belle (Haworth), he graduated from Colorado College in 1938 with a degree in Architecture.

Mr. Alderson was in the United States Coast Guard during WW II, serving on the same ship with the renowned boxer, Jack Dempsey. He was self-employed in the construction business. He had a very close, loving relationship with his dad, Roy.

Richard was a true gentleman who loved traveling the world and developing his own photographs. He loved French food and his favorite city was Paris and his favorite country other than the United States was New Zealand.

He is survived by long-time friends; Tom and Michele McGuire. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Louise Alderson, who passed in 2009.

Services for M. Alderson will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance, “America the Beautiful” chapel, 1730 East Fountain Blvd. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs.
