Richard Martin Paul, 62, of Monument, Colorado, passed away on November 24, 2014.
Rich was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 4, 1952 to Rick and Wilda “Willie” Paul. He graduated from Widefield High School and was accepted into the Air Force Academy where he proudly served in the United States Air Force for two years and then continued his education at the University of Colorado and UCLA. He married Christy Ann Simpson on June 20, 1987.
Rich’s work included being a District Manager at Sound Warehouse for S.E. United States, a Store Director at Walmart and an Executive at OEL Worldwide Industries. Rich was an Eagle Scout and was the recipient of several National Rifle Association awards. He was recognized in his community as a leader; serving in various positions including: President, Secretary and Director at Large. His service included a six year member of the Loan Review Committee for the City of Colorado Springs, President for the Kings Deer HOA and Chairman Architectural Control Committee for the HOA. Throughout his life he enjoyed building cars, music, weightlifting, home remodeling, woodworking and most of all, spending time with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed participating in his grandchildren’s activities.
Rich is survived by his father, Rick; his beloved wife of over 31 years, Christy; children: Krystal, Shane, Jody, Derek and Jake. Rich was known as Papa by his grandchildren: Chase, Madison, Cameron, Conner, Presley and Sophie. He is also survived by his siblings: Doug, Deborah, Roger and Diana and their families. Rich was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Paul.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 1, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Interment and military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Following services, a reception will be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
