Richard S. Anderson “Andy” 91, born to Thomas J. Anderson, Jr. and Virgie Chilcote Anderson on May 7, 1924 in Lake Forest, Illinois. Richard spent his early years living in Waukegan, Illinois then moved to Falcon, Colorado in the spring of 1933. Richard graduated from Falcon High School in 1942. He attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins for 1 year then was inducted into the U.S. Army May 17, 1943. He served honorably in WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was discharged December 27, 1945.

Richard married Evelyn Wood on February 15, 1948. He worked for The Food Bank for a short period before becoming employed at the U.S. Post Office in 1953. He retired from the Post Office in 1985 after 32 years as a letter carrier. He was a long time member of NALC Branch 204.

He is survived by his daughters, Emily Sue Gingrich (Kenneth) and Karen M. Anderson, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; daughter, Mary Linda Pilkington; brothers: Howard Anderson, Thomas J. Anderson III; sister, Glenice Fablinger; and granddaughter: Wendy Pilkington.

A public visitation is scheduled Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to First Christian Church, where he was a long time member, 16 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
