Richard W. Murphy, a resident of Colorado Springs for 30 years, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022.
Richard was born on January 7, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Deptford High School in Deptford, New Jersey and later earned a bachelor’s degree. He worked in medical equipment repair.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, traveling and being outdoors.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Sharon E. Murphy, and Jennifer L. Murphy; a brother, Charles “Bud” Murphy; 3 granddaughters: Tabatha Loukeris of Mt. Chase, Maine, Amanda Havens of Philadelphia, PA and Hailey Carson of Sewell, NJ; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Eleanor “Midge” Fleckenstien and Harry T. Fleckenstien Sr.; and 3 brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Inurnment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Rose Gardens.
