Rita Beason, 92, passed away peacefully on August 24th at the Sunny Vista Nursing home.
She was born in Omaha Nebraska and as an infant was left in a doctor’s auto. He took her to St. James Orphanage in Omaha; from where she was adopted by Glenn and Josephine Jenkins. She had been baptized at the orphanage and named Rita. She grew up in Humboldt Nebraska and graduated from Humboldt High School. She married Don Beason in 1938 in Humboldt Nebraska. He worked for Nebraska Public Power and they were transferred several times living in Humboldt, Newman Grove, Clay Center, Ogallala, and Chadron Nebraska. Don was a district manager when he retired. He died in 1979. Rita lived in Colorado Springs since his death.
Rita was active in several churches and led the children’s choirs for many years. She loved to play bridge and was well known among the various bridge clubs in all the places in which she lived. She and her husband traveled in an RV for the few short years of his retirement and enjoyed that experience very much.
She was preceded in death by two children a son Don and a daughter Vikki. Rita has four surviving children son Robert Beason of Longmont, daughters Barbara Jo Fejt-Toplikar of Arizona City, Mary Jane Abel of Colorado Springs, and Patricia Gifford of Custer, South Dakota. She has 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held Wednesday August 29th at 4:30 at the Shrine of Remembrance 1730 East Fountain Boulevard in Colorado Springs.
