Rita Mae Lessman, age 88, passed away at her home on March 23, 2015. Rita was born in Laurel, Nebraska on October 29, 1926 and was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1966.
Rita is remembered as a very generous, kind, and caring person who enriched the lives of her family and friends with her compassionate nature and unwavering sense of humor.
Rita was a local business owner (Families Subs / SS Subs). She was a member of The Retired Enlisted Association (T.R.E.A). Her lifetime activities included bowling leagues at Peterson Air Force Base, several terms as President of the NCO Wives and many years helping with the Colorado Springs Girls Softball Association.
Rita is survived by her daughter: Dianne (Patrick) Bonicelli; her brother: Robert(Sue) Hirschman; her grandchildren: Laura (Dave) Leavy, Kelly (Tony) Zeigner, Nick (Jenisha) Bonicelli, Andrea Bonicelli, Natalie Bonicelli, Leanne (Jon) Micheel, Kristy (Cody) Schumann and Eric (Gina) Lundby and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene Lessman; and her daughters: Carol Sinchak and Debbie Lane.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at The Shrine of Remembrance from 9:30am – 11:00am followed by a Rosary Prayer Service. Burial will be private.
