Robert “Bob” Selke
Robert “Bob” Selke, age 86, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1971, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Parkmoor Village Healthcare Center after a long illness. He had retired from Mountain Bell.
Robert Donald Selke was born on February 3, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Otto and Anne (Moore) Selke. He was a 1944 graduate of Fenger High School in Chicago. He was in the ROTC program in High School and then joined the United States Army. He served honorably during World War II. He married Opal Ellen Richards on September 6, 1947 in Chicago, raised a family and retired. They attended Mesa Hills Bible Church. His wife, Opal, died in 1985.
He later married Monnie Janetsky on July 5, 1997 in Colorado Springs. He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards and spending time with family. He and Monnie attended Village Seven Presbyterian Church. Monnie survives and lives in Colorado Springs.
He is survived by his children: Mary (husband, Larry) Kort of West Des Moines, Iowa; and William R. (wife, Anne) Selke of Colorado Springs; two sisters: Ronna (husband, Fred) Radestock of Manitou Springs, Colorado; and Rayleen (husband, George) McMullen of Castle Rock; seven wonderful grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
