Robert Calvin Johnson, affectionately known as RC, was born to Joe and Virginia Johnson, May 19, 1926, in Eupora, Mississippi. He transitioned to heavenly rest on September 2, 2018 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
RC is survived by Annie Mae Johnson (his first and third wife) and four children: two sons, Robert and Kent, and two daughters, Belinda and Darlene.
RC leaves three sisters: Barbara Brown, Cassille Coffey and Helen Jones; and his brother, Joe Johnson. Caro Flowers and Eris Bolein preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Upon marriage to Mattie Johnson in November 1967 their union had one daughter, Cassandra Hamiel, and a step daughter, Earlexia Richards. He also had two grandsons: James and Robert, and four great grandsons: James, Aaron, Carter and Bryson.
RC loved his church, Williams Chapel Missionary Baptist Church located in Detroit, Michigan. He proudly served on the deacon board. RC was a World War II veteran who served his country proudly. He retired from Stone Container after 30 years of service. RC loved gardening and tinkering in the yard.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd.
He always had song in his heart. He will be missed.
