Robert E. Thibault
March 24, 1937 – August 7, 2023
Bob was born in Saint Albans to Edgar and Lilliane Thibault and raised in Swanton, Vermont. He joined the Air Force in 1957 where his first assignment was the Minot, North Dakota Air Station. He was a radar operator.
He met his wife, Barbara Rensch, and they have been married for 63 1/2 years. They raised four children: Michelle Sandeen (Tim), Michael Thibault (Cindy), Monique Greer (Steve) and Nicole Thibault Frette. They have eleven grandchildren: Thomas (Charlotte), Brian (Sarah), Jared (Holly) and Gregory Sandeen, Garrett and Casey Thibault, Wesley (Sarah), Haley, Hannah and Jeremy Greer, Caden Frette; and seven great grandchildren: Rebecca, Abigail, Nora, Kasen, Kyle, Anika and Owen. Bob is survived by his youngest brother, Gerald “Chip” Thibault, Cheryl Thibault (wife of deceased brother, John Thibault), Richard Belles (husband of deceased sister, Reine Belles), and many nieces and nephews.
Bob and Barbara have lived in Colorado since 1965. Bob retired from the military in 1977 and worked various jobs until he became an American Family Insurance agent, retiring in 1999. He was involved in many community organizations including: Dollars for Scholars, Optimus Club, Thunder in the Valley, Library Board, Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Parish, St. Dominic, and was a Lector and EMHC. Bob was very active. Some of his favorite activities included fishing, hunting, camping, spending time at his cabin and sports. Bob had a great sense of humor and wanted to make everyone laugh by his antics. He knew no stranger.
A Rosary will be held Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 9:30AM, followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 US-85, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911. A Committal service will follow at 2:00PM, at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80925.
