Robert L. Espander passed away on 6 August 2012.
He was born in Denver, CO on July 30, 1919, to Joseph and Josephine (Burkhatt) Espander. Most of his 93 years were spent in Colorado Springs. He attended Colorado Springs High School where he played sports including the State champion football team. His dream of professional sports was cut short when he entered military service where he proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII.
His life’s passion was to help others and across time he helped establish the Ent FCU and the senior transportation system for Silver Key. He logged thousands of hours on the roads as a volunteer driver for Silver Key and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an active and proud member of the Palmer High School Alumni Association.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Helen (nee McCombs), his sister, Alice Marie and brother, J.D. Espander, Jr. He is survived in death by his daughter, Leslie Anne Vogt, son, William Robert, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
