Bob was born in Martinsville, Indiana, to Herald Leon Owens and Pauline May Warmoth.
He is survived by his children, Scott Smith, Todd Owens, Nicole Owens, Wayne Larsen and Kelly Primus; and his grandchildren, Shauna Smith, Peyton Smith, Raymond Nicholas Vega, Nathan Vega, Niya Vega, Tucker Larsen and Spencer Larsen.
Bob left Indiana after high school to join the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon returning, he went to school for auto-mechanics. He married his first wife, Melody Michalares, and moved to the St. Pete area of Florida where he started Bob’s Auto Repair. He divorced and later was remarried to Patricia Larsen.
In 2008, he closed his shop and moved to Colorado Springs with Pat to be close to her biological family. He worked part-time for more than 10 years as the facility manager of Flipshack. He and Pat were married nearly 30 years before she passed in July of 2022.
Bob had a disdain for idleness, and a deep pride for doing things well. He loved working with his hands, spending time with those closest to him, tending to his roses and playing slots. He gave and received help equally.
Bob wasn’t religious, but he lived by the Golden Rule.
A visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., Colorado Springs, CO 80910. Private entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Athena.
