Robert MacDonald, age 95, passed away on January 23, 2023 at his home. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for over 50 years and was formerly a resident of Wisconsin and was stationed in various locations around the world. He served in the United States Air Force for 30 years. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant, participated in the Berlin Airlift, was a veteran of both Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Air Force he fulfilled the role of Vice President for aircraft refueling services for various air bases around the world.
Robert was born on January 21, 1928, to Archie J McDonald and Thelma McDonald (Achterberg) in Byron, Wisconsin. He attended Williams Bay High School and graduated in 1946. While stationed in germany he married Amalie Huber in Erding Germany on November 2, 1951.
Robert was an avid bowler most of his life. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling the country in his RV. He enjoyed watching the Colorado Rockies and attended many training camps and home games.
He is survived by his two sons; Ron MacDonald and Bob MacDonald (Debbie); His siblings; Lou Ann and Beverly; four grandchildren; Craig (Jessica), Laura (Steve), Matthew (Crystal), Christopher (Marissa) and 13 great-grandchildren; John, Hailey, Michael, Charles, Daniel, Tristan Sadie, Kelsey, Luke, Emily, Nolan, Max, Kennedy, and was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Amalie, his parents, three brothers; Vernon, Gale, Maurice, and five sisters; Bernice, Betty, Shirley, Donna, and Beatrice, two grandchildren; Brian (Dava), Cheryl, and daughter-in-law Karen (Ron).
A grave site honor guard will be held on February 13, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Shrine of Remembrance.
