Rochelle “Shelly” Bennington
Rochelle “Shelly” Bennington passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2013 at her home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on October 21, 1970 in Spokane, Washington to William and Joyce (Hoshour) Bennington. Her father was attending graduate school in Cheney, Washington at the time. Shelly spent her elementary school years in Muskegon, Michigan, Ganado, Navajo Nation, Pocatello, Idaho, and Colorado Springs. She graduated from Mitchel High School in 1988 and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. In 2010, she received a certificate in Veterinary Assistant from Pima Medical Institute.
Shelly was an administrative assistant at Pikes Peak Community College for five years and held many positions in customer service in her career. She worked for Banfield Corporation as a veterinary assistant for one year.
Shelly loved animals and was devoted to her two cats, Bear and Snickers. She enjoyed making beaded jewelry and visiting the family cabin in the mountains.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Elwin and Miriam Bennington, Marjory (Bennington) Byrn, and James Hoshour. Survivors include her mother, Joyce Bennington; her father, Bill Bennington; her grandmother, Ruby Hoshour; her sister, Holli (Tony) Billiamosa; and nephew, Nicolas; her aunts: Janet (Robert) Hearsch, Ann (Sam) Ramsey; and uncle, John (Allison) Bennington; her cousins: Robin (Steven) Hill, and Roberta (Mike) Cox, Stuart Ramsey, Duncan and Sam Bennington.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow the services and will be held at the Macaroni Grill, 2510 Tenderfoot Hill Street.
