Ronald F. Bass, age 64, a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at a local hospice residence after a short battle with cancer. He was a self employed musician and computer programmer.
Ronald Frank Bass was born on May 28, 1949 in Colorado Springs to the late Cecil and Irene (Bragg) Bass. He was a 1967 graduate of Palmer High School and attended college in Denver and later, Pueblo.
He was a free spirit that was passionate about sharing his knowledge of computers, electronics and music with others. He loved life and playing the bass guitar. He enjoyed all types of music and will be remembered best for his teaching, work ethic and his ability to share his passion with others to inspire and teach. But most of all, he will be remembered as a great father.
Ron was a great dad and is survived by his sons: Ron (and Merida) Bass of Colorado Springs; Derek (and Darlene) Bass of Castle Rock; his brothers: Cecil (and Sylvia) Bass of Denver, and Herb (and Jacquee) Jones of Oklahoma City.
He has three wonderful grandchildren: Lassina, Kyra and Aaliyah, and a host of great friends. He is also survived by his former wife: Freida Christopherson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private interment will be at the Mausoleum. A reception will follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard.
Memorials in Ron’s name may be made to the Palmer High School Jazz Music Program.
He will be dearly missed.
