Rose Lucille Howell, 91, passed July 26, 2022 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Rose leaves her four sons and spouses: Kenneth and Leanne Howell, Scott and Vanessa Howell, Douglas and Jeannette Howell, Eric Howell; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a large extended family.
Rose was born in Colorado Springs on July 29, 1930 the daughter of Milton and Hazel (Achord) Cheesman. Rose graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1949.
Rose met her future husband Derril Howell in Colorado Springs and they were married in 1953. As Derril was active duty Air Force, He and Rose ventured to postings in Okinawa, Germany, California, and Colorado all the while making life-long friends from all across the country. After retiring from the Air Force, Rose and Derril settled in Security-Widefield.
When not chasing around four boys, Rose enjoyed Arts & Crafts and games – especially card games.
Rose held jobs at Widefield School District-3 and later at Christian Booksellers Association in Accounts Payable. Rose really enjoyed her job at CBA and was able to work at their annual conventions held all across the country. After retirement, Rose and Derril enjoyed travelling the world and spending winters at their second home in Tucson, Arizona.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Derril Howell; twin sister, Rachel Lyda; brothers Robert Cheesman and Samuel Cheesman; and nephews, Tim Lyda and Allen Cheesman; sister-in-law Phyllis Cheesman.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a Luncheon Reception to follow at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 S. Union Boulevard. Rose will be interred with Derril at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.com).
