Rowland Lewis Williams, 84, passed away December 21, 2017. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 52 years and was formerly a resident of St. David, Illinois. He was a Master Sargent in the United States Airforce.
Rowland Williams was born on May 12, 1933 to William (Bill) R. Williams and Julia M. Williams (Davis) in Canton, Illinois. On April 3, 1954, he married Joan Lee Johnson.
Rollie enjoyed showing his Miniature Schnauzers with his wife, Joan. They traveled throughout the United States in their RV with their dogs. He also was fond of history. He was a member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois for 63 years. He attended Lewiston Community High School, where he played football and basketball (All State Athlete) and graduated in 1951. He then attended Culver-Stockton Liberal Arts College in Canton, Missouri and played football. He served in the United States Airforce, for 23 years and retired from Colorado Springs School District 11 at Sabin Middle School of 18 years.
He is survived by his children: Elizabeth (Kevin) Hothan, and Karen Williams; siblings: Edith (kline) Bennett, and Mary Weisert; grandchildren: Adam Hothan, Tana Bays, Lisa Boyd, Sara Deputy, Logan Deputy, and Nathan Deputy; and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan L. Williams; daughter, Jennie Deputy; parents, William (Bill) Williams, and Julia M. Williams (Davis); and sibling, Ann (Rosie) Gorsuch.
A visitation will be held 5:00pm-7:00pm on Thursday, January 4th, 2018 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80910. A funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 5th, 2018 also at Shrine of Remembrance.
A reception will be held after the funeral service at 3:30pm with his favorite food. Please join us at Summit Glen, 4825 Old Farm Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917 (2nd floor Activity Room).
Rollie was known for his smile and positive attitude. Everywhere he went he was loved and will always be remembered. He was a great man.
