Roy was born on December 1, 1931 in Heyworth, Illinois to Gilbert and Grace Wheeler, the fourth of five children. He died on May 9, 2017 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering. His career with Hewlett- Packard started in California, then Roy was transferred to Colorado Springs in 1964. He retired after 28 years of service from Hewlett-Packard.
Roy loved nature, traveling, and flying his single-engine plane. He was a quiet, gentle man, and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Deborah Burdsal (Rob); five step-children: Cathy Kosley , Becky Jahrig, Bob, Jack, and Jeff Parrot; one sister, Inamae Shaw; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan; a son, Phillip; his parents, and three siblings.
At Roy’s request, a private family remembrance has been held at The Shrine of Remembrance.
