Ruby Schoenith, age 98, died peacefully at her home in Colorado Springs on May 13, 2013.
Ruby was born on April 30, 1915 to Anna and Mark Kramer in Syracuse, Nebraska. She moved to Garden City, Kansas when she was in junior high. During her high school years Ruby performed in many piano concerts and taught lessons to other students. She attended two years of college in Garden City, but her true calling was music.
Ruby married George Schoenith in 1944. She gave birth to a daughter in 1947. Ruby and George lived in Colorado Springs for several years, and then Charlotte, North Carolina for three years, before moving back to Colorado. Her husband was in the office equipment business and they had stores in Lamar, La Junta, Rocky Ford, and Pueblo. Ruby taught piano lessons in Lamar, and was the organist at the Presbyterian Church and performed in many concerts in Lamar.
When her husband retired they moved to Colorado Springs. He passed away in 1989. Ruby belonged to a praise singing group at the Presbyterian Church and to PEO, a Philanthropic organization. She loved bridge, and was a member of several bridge groups.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Carol Rumpf; and two granddaughters: Kimberly Smith, and Christina Rumpf. Ruby had two brothers and two sisters who preceded her in death.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 29, 2013 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
