Rudy, 91, passed away on June 13, 2024, at his home. He was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado for over 34 years and was formerly a resident of Torrance, California.

Rudy was born on August 1, 1932, to John Mantecon and Ester (Paraz) Mantecon in Los Angeles, California. On November 18, 1963, he married the love of his life, Sharon Williams.

Rudy graduated from Fremont High School in 1951, and then served in the United States Air Force, 1951-1955. He worked for and retired from TWA, after 38 years. He also volunteered at Penrose/St. Francis hospitals from 2007-2024, putting in over 10,000 volunteer hours. He was a selfless man with great integrity and loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

His loving wife, Sharon, preceded him in death in 2006. Also preceding him in death is his daughter, Maryellen Mantecon; and sons: Ben and Mark Schwake. He is survived by his daughters: Kathleen Kean (James Reeg) and Jennifer Mantecon (Orlando Lopez) and Debra Mantecon. He loved and adored his 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 12pm to 5pm at Doc and Kathy’s shop, 14935 Quail Run Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

  4. Although I haven’t seen him in many years, I remember him well. Always willing to pick us up when we were kids, when ever we needed. His blue pinto parked in the driveway at the cabin in Big Bear, CA. How he hovered over Kathleen when she got her orange VW, and so much more. He was a humble man that devoted himself to his family.
