Russell M. Eacker, 85, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2016. Russell was born on May 22, 1931 in Boise, Idaho to the late Maynard and Marion (Freeman) Eacker. After graduating from Weiser High School in Weiser, Idaho, Russell joined the United States Navy and actively served our country for four years. He remained in the reserves for another 22 years.

Russell attended Colorado State College (now UNC) in Greeley, Colorado and graduated with his Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Special Education. He started teaching special education at Palmer High School in 1960 and remained teaching in District 11 for over 30 years, retiring in 1990.

In 1957, he met Carol Magnus at college. On October 23, 1958, the pair were married in Greeley and to this union, four children were born.

Russell was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in Boy Scouts, Sons of Norway and the Elmohr Iris Society. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, making jewelry and spending time with his family and friends.

Russell is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carol; children: Joel (Margaret) Eacker, Lori (Alec) Robinson and Scott (Michelle) Apodaca-Eacker; sister, Vicki (Jerry) Neely; brother, Jay (Barbara) Eacker; daughter in law, Theresa as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Brad Eacker.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September, 28, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 846 East Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Private inurnment will take place at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
