Ruth Gardner
Ruth Gardner, age 83, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1967, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her home in Colorado Springs as the result of pancreatic cancer. She was a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Ruth Höhn was born on July 13, 1928 in Karlsruhe, Germany to the late Ferdinand and Frieda Höhn. She attended school in Germany and met and married Arthur Gardner while he was stationed there with the United States Army. They were married on June 7, 1952 in Karlsruhe. They had two children and raised a family. Ruth enjoyed traveling, dancing, bingo, and frequent trips to Cripple Creek. She was a member of the Germania Club in Colorado Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Art; her son, Ronald Gardner of Woodland Park; and her daughter Ruby Gardner of Colorado Springs. She has two grandchildren, Ronald Ennen and his fiancée Stephenie Luchsinger and Angela Gardner, all of Colorado Springs; and two great grandchildren, Xzavier and Mariela.
A visitation is planned for 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. Private entombment will follow at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Odyssey Hospice Foundation.
She will be dearly missed.
