In Loving Memory of
RUTH OXLEY WILSON, age 91, died on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at The Gardens in Colorado Springs in the presence of loving family and staff. She was a resident of Colorado Springs for thirteen years and was formerly a resident of Oak Creek Grade, south of Canon City, Colorado. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and Bible Worker.
Mrs. Wilson was born November 25, 1923, to Roy Elton and Clara Emily (Twing) Oxley in Proviso Township, Illinois, whose home was in LaGrange, Illinois. On September 13, 1945, Ruth was married to Clifford Norman Wilson in Berrien Springs, MI. She had two older brothers Emerald and Cloyde.
Ruth’s favorite activity as a child was to spend time with her little Terrier dog, Fritzy, who shared her life for 16 years. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed being outdoors, loved music, and played the flute well. She grew up embracing the Seventh-day Adventist religion, but even more, rejoiced in claiming Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Ruth attended Broadview Academy for high school and Emmanuel Missionary College, (Andrews University), graduating in 1947.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her loving sons, Don M. Wilson and William O. Wilson, and daughter, Bonnie Oneonta-Becraft, and their spouses; her grandchildren: Todd Wilson, Trina Kennedy, William Scott Wilson, Barry Matthew Long, Ben Long, Beth Long and Buki Main Long; and her great-grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Long, Nicholas Long, Zachary Long, Tyler Kennedy, and Tanner Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her siblings and parents.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. The Service will follow the visitation at 10:00 am. A reception in her memory will follow. Interment will be held at 12:00 noon at Evergreen Cemetery.
