Sally Mary Martinez
October 6, 1919 – March 24, 2014
Sally Mary Martinez was born in Dawson, New Mexico to Tomas and Inez Sanchez. The family moved to Alamosa, Colorado where Sally eventually met her husband, Candido Martinez.
She volunteered at the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church for approximately 40 years; opening the church every day and set up for baptisms, weddings, funerals, and church services. She was also a hospice volunteer for many years and was given an award for having the most volunteer hours by anyone at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church.
Sally was blessed with three children: Mary Inez Hankins (husband Charles Homer Hankins), Joseph Gilbert Martinez all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Martha Bernadette Price (husband Jack Price) of Georgia; 6 grandchildren: Sandi Barnett (husband Mike Barnett), Bob Hankins (Peggy Friend), Dianna Hankins, of Falcon, Colorado, Renee Hankins (Guy Woods) of Fountain , Colorado, Sharon Reynolds (Rick Reynolds) of Calhan, Colorado, Charles Lee Hankins (Tammy Hankins) of Colorado Springs; 5 great-grandchildren: Johny Kimberlin, Alisa Easler of Simla, Colorado, Nicole Trumble of Pueblo, Melissa Kepley of Iowa, and Kaylee Hankins of Colorado Springs; 11 great-great-grandchildren: Dianna Kimberlin, Catarina Kimberlin, Dillon Madsen, Haylee Easler, Shayne Easler, Kaycie Davis, Tayler Davis, Kevin Davis, Blake Trumble, Brooklynn Trumble, and Bentley Kepley; and 6 siblings: Ray, Vangie, Marie, Jimmy, Joe, and Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and by three of her siblings: Ray, Vangie, and Jimmy.
Sally will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 927 North Logan Avenue. Entombment will be at Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels. A reception will be held following the entombment and will be at Divine Redeemer’s Parish Hall.h
