Sandra M. Aragon, age 76, a lifelong resident of Fountain, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, November 10, 2023 in Lexington Park, Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Joe (Andy) of 47 years, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She is survived by her children: Valarie (Scottie) White, Mark Aragon, and Joe Aragon; siblings: John Lopez, David Lopez, and Carol (Derrera) Iglesias; and 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Sandra was born on October 17, 1947 in Denver, Colorado to the late John P. Lopez and Mary Ann (Abeyta). She married Joe Aragon on August 7, 1965 in Denver, Colorado.
Sandra was a homemaker, raising her 3 children and being a caregiver for her husband when he became ill. In her younger years she enjoyed camping, fishing, going to the drive-in theater, crocheting, road trips, listening to music and family get togethers. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years and helped restore the stained-glass windows in the church. She always made time to bake banana bread, pumpkin bread and cakes to drop off at the local volunteer fire department. She loved making all sorts of crafts and giving them to people during the holidays or just to cheer them up. While in the nursing home Mom crocheted several baby blankets for staff members, she received a second and third place ribbon for her crafts at the St. Mary’s County Fair in Leonardtown, Maryland. She enjoyed bingo, playing the bells and taking part in several activities at the nursing home. Her favorite TV shows were NCIS and Criminal Minds and she loved to eat funnel cake. Above all, she was a loving wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at the Shrine of Remembrance (1730 E.
