Sandy Tiedeman, age 74, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2023, at Penrose St. Francis Hospital. Despite moving away from Colorado Springs multiple times, she always came back and always called it home. Most recently, this had been her home for over 20 years.
She was born on February 11, 1949, to William Hogg and Margaret (Lloyd) Hogg. On that same day, 31 years later, she would find herself marrying Ralph Tiedeman in Belleville, Illinois.
Sandy was fond of crocheting blankets and scarves for friends and family. She was also an avid lover of puzzles, crosswords and sudoku. She attended Mitchel High School in Colorado Springs and graduated in 1967. Upon completion of High School, Sandy enrolled at Beth-El School of Nursing and graduated in 1970. At that time, she would join the Air Force and find herself becoming a very successful Flight Nurse. During her time as a nurse, she would be based at several locations in the United States as well as in Japan.
She is survived by her loving husband Ralph; her children Ryan and Chris; and her brothers Bruce and Barry. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret, as well as the other love of her life, her dog Cache.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and other staff members at Penrose St. Francis and Pikes Peak Hospice that took such wonderful care of her in her final days and moments. They truly are the real angels. We would like to share one last quote from Dr. Seuss. “A person’s a person, no matter how small. To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
