Sarah C. Elder
Sarah C. Elder passed away May 22, 2012 at Life Care Center of Colorado Springs. She had been a resident of Colorado Springs for 45 years and was formerly a resident of Fresno, California, Washington D.C., and England.
Sarah was born on July 11, 1916 in Archer County, Texas to Arthur and Martha (Mondon) Melton. She married Morris Elder on March 10, 1941 in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a member of a Masonic organization and was a very active member of Heritage Baptist Church. She helped by working with the youth group, acting as church librarian, and even coordinating the church’s 40th Anniversary celebration. She was also a very talented seamstress who enjoyed needlepoint and handcrafts.
She is survived by her husband, Morris; her children: Raye (wife Rose) Elder, Susan (husband Ted) Slosky; two sisters: Edna McLeod, and Barbara Cook; five granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Heritage Baptist Church, 4808 Palmer Park Boulevard. A reception at the church will follow the services. Private entombment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Garden of Angels.
