Sharon Rae (Yates) Jensen was born in Illinois on March 20, 1954 to Orville B. and Yvonne F. Yates. She was called to heaven on April 15, 2015.
A long time resident of Colorado, Sharon dedicated her life to helping others. During her over 30 year career as a nurse, she worked in many fields, such as pediatrics and Children’s Specialty Clinic, but her first love was the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where she cared for thousands of ill babies and mentored other nurses. In 2010, Sharon returned to school to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education with the desire to teach in her local, rural community. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, she immediately began a Masters in Special Education, where she worked tirelessly until her passing. All who knew her marveled at her commitment to education and desire to serve others.
Sharon was a life long volunteer donating her time to many organizations and her church.
She is survived by her three daughters Talia (husband David), Michelle (husband Scott) and JoAnn. Grandchildren Matthew, Jessica, Ethan, William and Cheryl. Her brother William (wife Georgia). She is preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life was held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Calhan United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sharon Jensen Memorial Fund. Sharon loved working with children, especially special needs and preschool. The fund will be to be used for the benefit of the Early Childhood/ Special Education department at Miami Yoder Elementary School where she did her student teaching.
