Shirley Lorraine Cunningham, 79, passed away on April 22, 2015 at her home in Widefield, Colorado following a lengthy illness.
She was born on June 26, 1935 in Towner, Colorado to Harold A. and Eileen (Silliman) Laird. She grew up in eastern Colorado and Paris, Arkansas before moving to Widefield.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Orla; two sons, Arthur (Diane) of Colorado Springs and Robert (Mary) of Widefield; one daughter, Sheila (Patrick) Plagman of Colorado Springs; one brother, Robert (Janet) Laird of Lamar, Colorado; two sisters, Alice Francis of Warner Springs, California and Janette Vick of Nacogdoches, Texas; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John and Harold and one sister, Wanda Hieronymus.
Shirley spent her working years in clerical positions at the Kiowa County Clerk’s office and Weisbrod Hospital in Eads, Colorado. After moving to Widefield, she held positions at Ampex and AMI Industries. After retiring from AMI, she was a sales clerk with Myers Sewing Machine Company. As an avid sports fan, she formed a bowling league in 1982 which has been in existence for 33 years.
Shirley will be inurned in the Ethel Merman Columbarium at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home in Colorado Springs. Memorial service, 2 p.m. June 10, Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel.
