Shizue Porter, a resident of Colorado Springs for 43 years, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014.

She was born on July 11, 1934 in Kobe, Japan to Giei and Matsu Kohagura. She married Henry Porter on October 19, 1962 in Naha, Okinawa.

Shizue was a very independent and strong-willed woman who was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also a generous person who was selfless in spirit. She enjoyed her daily walks and spending time with her daughter. She was a lifelong member of SGI Buddhist Center.

Her daughter, JoAnn Porter, survives her.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the SGI-USA Buddhist Center, 5520 North Union Boulevard. Private burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
