Sonia Ramos, a long-time resident of Cheyenne, Wyoming, shared time with her two children after the death of her husband, in 2012, and settled in Colorado Springs in 2015. She passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, shortly after her 88th birthday.
Sonia was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, on September 5, 1932. She was the third of four children born to the late Monserrate Troche, and grew up on a farm. She relocated to the United States when she was 18-years-old, and lived with family in New York. She married Armando Q. Ramos on June 12, 1966. They were married for 46 years until his death on August 24, 2012.
She was a loving, devoted, military wife and mother. She operated a home-based childcare center in her home for over 20 years. She was an accomplished bowler in her early years, and later enjoyed needlecraft and making ceramics.
She is survived by her children: Mary Ann Bare (Ramos) of Colorado Springs, and Armando Ramos (Terri Hoffmeyer-Ramos); her brother, Carlos Perez of Yonkers, New York; her grandchildren, Dominic Ramos, Christopher Bare, Katie Bare, and Joslyn Hoffmeyer-Gay. She was preceded in death by her parents, two older siblings, and her late husband, Armando Q. Ramos.
