Stanley “Sonny” Marchbanks, Jr.
March 30, 1946 – March 23, 2012
Sonny Marchbanks, Jr. passed away Thursday, March 23, 2012 after a year long battle with cancer.
Sonny was born to Stanley, Sr. and Margaret Marchbanks and was raised in Rush, Colorado. On August 21, 1965 he married his high school sweetheart Edith Forbes. Upon graduating from high school, he went to work in Colorado Springs at Wright Glass Company as a glazier and later as founder and partner in Pikes Peak Glass Company where he continued to work until retirement. A lifelong native of Colorado, over the last 14 years, Sonny and Edith have lived in Falcon, Colorado.
He loved the outdoors and spent his life doing activities outside. During his retirement he especially loved to go hunting, fishing, boating, riding ATV’s in the mountains, and traveling to many countries.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Edith Marchbanks; and his daughters: Debbie Usher (Tom), and Janice Marquis (Rick). He has four grandchildren: Cody, Kristine, Crystal, and Britney; four step-grandchildren: Mellisa, Thomas, Joshua, and Andrew; a nephew, Curtis Kocerha; and a niece, Theresa Jimison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley V. Marchbanks, Sr.; his mother, Margaret Marchbanks; his sister, Judy Kocerha; and his nephew, Earnest Lee Kocerha.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel. A reception will follow at Free Will Baptist Church, 7465 Horseshoe Road.
