Sophie Regan Rush, age 29, passed away on the afternoon of May 5, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, with her
family and close friends by her side. She lived in Colorado Springs for the past 7 years, before which she
lived in Dunedin, Florida, and Brentwood England.
Sophie was born on October 10, 1987 to Michael Rush and Tracy Katherine (Rush) Batides in Essex
England . She graduated from Countryside High School in Dunedin, Florida. Over the years Sophie
worked as a preschool teacher, EMT, hospital lab technician, and paramedical examiner, working at
Precious People Learning Center, Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Penrose Hospital and ExamOne. She
attended Calvary Worship Center.
She is survived by her father, Michael Rush; mother, Tracy Batides; step-father, Steve Batides; sisters:
Emma Rush, Regan Batides, Diana Batides, and Tracy Batides; grandparents, Thomas Regan, June Regan,
and Vina Rush. Sophie was preceded in death by her sister, Jacqueline Ann Rush.
Sophie was full of love and gave it freely. She loved to paint and she put her heart into every new piece
she worked on. Sophie has taken her sweetness and sunshine with her, and we will miss her every day.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:30 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017 at Shrine of Remembrance. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017 with an additional visitation from 10-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard.
