Larry Gene Karr, 76, passed away on July 12, 2019. He was born on February 5, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri and was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1980.

He retired from the United States Army after serving for 26 years. Larry was 100% military disabled after serving in both Vietnam and Korea. He married his wife, Elizabeth, on September 19, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Together they raised 5 children and cherished the years spent with their extended Army family while serving the USA domestically and abroad.

He loved his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids, who brought him much joy. Larry always maintained a mischievous smile and if he wasn’t playfully joking around with his friends and family he could be found rooting on his Kansas City Chiefs while surrounded by those he loved.

Survivors include his loving wife, Elizabeth Karr; sons, Joseph Michael Karr and Matthew Allen Karr; daughters: Ruth Ann Hanson, Mary Catherine Peterson, and Heidi Lynn Wartchow; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 siblings; and 1 grandson.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel, 1730 East Fountain Boulevard. Inurnment will follow the service at 3:00 p.m. with full military honors at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Road.
